To the untrained eye, this specific image probably doesn't hold much significance. Just another underwater pass-by surf shot, right? Well for those who don’t know, this type of water clarity is really rare on Vancouver Island. The water here never really gets this transparent, let alone when the surf conditions line up properly. I’m so proud of this photo it hurts and it’s a shame that no one besides Pete Devries and I have seen it for the last year and a half. But it's important to remember that the value of art is completely subjective. Different individuals have different tastes and preferences, and what may go unnoticed by some could deeply resonate with others.
