We woke up at 5 a.m. and hiked in the dark for an hour, only to get skunked. Defeated, we cut our losses and left with our tails between our legs. But on a hunch, we decided to go back for one last look before early evening nightfall—just in case. Thankfully, Reed Platenius was there to paddle out. This is still probably the best I’ll ever see this beach work.
